https://s3.amazonaws.com/artspan-fs/member_files/minamintstudio/IMG_8676.jpegFrom an early age, inspired by my parents’ love of culture, I developed a deep appreciation for the visual arts. At Kent School in Connecticut, I was honored with the Outstanding Art Award for excellence in both Art History and Creative Art. I went on to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where the nearby Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum became my second classroom—introducing me to the masterful brushwork of Monet, Manet, Zorn, and Sargent. Later, while working at Parke-Bernet Galleries in New York City, I was immersed in a world of extraordinary artworks that further shaped my artistic vision.
My own creative journey began more than forty years ago in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where watercolorist Fred Kingwill first introduced me to the fundamentals of painting. Over the years, I refined my skills through workshops with Sari Staggs, Ted Nuttall, and Lian Zhen, while also sharing my passion by teaching 4-H art to high school students for a decade. I drew inspiration from regional artists such as Kathryn Mapes Turner, Scott L. Christensen, Amy Ringholz, and Billy Schenck.
Since moving to Miami, I have embraced acrylics as my primary medium—vivid, versatile, and perfectly suited to my energetic style. I continue to grow under the mentorship of Professor Carlos Gallostra at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Now, at 80, I find my creativity more vibrant than ever—proof that artistic energy doesn’t fade, it evolves.
My work reflects a realist foundation enriched by vibrant color and emotional depth. I explore many subjects, from wildlife and landscapes to commissioned portraits, with a particular affinity for portraiture that bridges personal connection and timeless expression. My creative process is driven by a constant flow of ideas, and each canvas is an opportunity to translate that vision into something lasting and alive.
Please visit my gallery, Minamint Studio, to view a selection of my work. If a piece resonates with you, I also welcome commissions and would be delighted to create a personalized original.
